Good news for Nexus 5X users, Google has finally released the Android 7.1.2 N2G48C Nougat update and now you can run the latest Android on your Nexus 5X phones. It comes with plenty of bug fixes and optimizations.
People who have been flashing firmware in the past, this is not going to be anything different. However, if this is your first time, we highly recommend that you first go through the entire article very carefully and then get on with the installation process. There are several things that are to be downloaded or installed either on your computer or your phone before you start with the actual updating process. We have listed all the prerequisites below.
- The first thing that you need to make sure is that you have installed the latest USB Drivers of your Nexus 5X on your computer.
- Then, you need to make a backup of your data because there is always a slight chance that you might lose your data during the process.
- Don’t forget to enable the USB Debugging mode of your phone. It is very important without it, your phone might not connect properly with your computer.
- Make sure that the bootloader of your phone is unlocked.
- The battery of your phone should be more than 80 percent.
Step 1: You need to download Android 7.1.2 Factory Image for your phone onto your computer.
Step 2: Then you have to connect your computer to your Nexus 5X using an original USB cable.
Step 3: It is very important that the Fastboot is properly configured on your computer. So, make sure it is installed and configured before proceeding to the next step.
Step 4: Done, you have to switch your phone off.
Step 5: Turn your phone back on, but this time ensure that it is in the Fastboot/Bootloader mode. To do this, you need to press and hold the Power Button with Volume Down button and Volume Up button at the time of restarting your phone.
Step 6: You need to extract the downloaded files, then head to a bullhead-N2G48C folder and copy all the files present in it. You then have to paste all these files to the Fastboot directory.
Step 7: From the fastboot directly of the image files, you need to perform the following. The step depends upon the OS that you are using. For Widows, you need to run the “flash-all.bat” file, for Linux the “flash.all.sh” file and finally for MAC “flash-all.sh” using a terminal.
Step 8: You have done it, wait for the process to complete. In case you run into any problem, follow on the on-screen instructions and unlock the bootloader.
Step 9: Once the process is completed, your phone will reboot and this will take some time. After that you are done, go and enjoy the latest Android update on your Nexus 5X phone.
