HTC is an excellent mobile manufacturer; the company has always managed to come up with reliable smartphones. The major reason behind its reliability is security. HTC ensures that users never feel ensure while they are using their phone’s i.e. all their phones come with a locked bootloader. However, if the user chooses, HTC does offer them the opportunity to unlock their bootloader through official channels instead of using third party utilities. The entire process is pretty easy and simple, however, the procedure varies from brand to brand and even from mobile to mobile. In the course of this article, we are going to teach you how to unlock the bootloader on your HTC U Ultra that has Android 7.0.
An unlocked bootloader lets you install a custom recovery, you can even flash custom ROMS and make factory level changes. We hope you that the tutorial is useful and you enjoy it.

There are a number of things that you need to install before starting the actual process.
- You need to make sure that the USB Drivers of your HTC U Ultra are downloaded on your computer. They should be up to date and should be properly installed.
- It is very important that you make a backup of your data before your start with the unlocking process.
- The tutorial is only for HTC U Ultra, we highly recommend that you do not try it on any other phone.
NOTE: Once you unlock the bootloader, your phone will lose the warranty. So, proceed at your own risk.
- Enable the USB debugging mode on your HTC U Ultra.
Step 1: You first have to go the HTC development website.
Step 2: Login with your account, in case you do not have an account create one by clicking on Register button.
Step 3: After you have created your account, you need to activate it by logging in.

Step 4: Once you have logged in, head to the main page of HTCDeve and look for the Unlock Bootloader button. Click on it, and then click on “Get Started” button.
Step 5: From the drop-down menu, opt for the “All Other Supported Models” option. Simply click on Begin Unlock Bootloader button now. Make sure that you read the warning message and then click on Yes button. To proceed further, you would have to check the legal terms popup box.
Step 6: if you haven’t downloaded fastboot files, now is the time. Download and extract them in C drive.
Step 7: Switch off your HTC U Ultra for about 10 seconds and then turn it back on in the power mode. You can do this, by pressing and holding the Power button along with the Volume Down button.
Step 8: Connect your phone to your PC using a data cable and then copy the fastboot file in your phone.
Step 9: Once in the download mode, use volume button to navigate to Fastboot and to make a selection use the power button.
Step 10: Launch Command Prompt by typing ‘cmd’ in the start button search.
Step 11: Type the command “cd c:\fastboot” and enter. Now type “fastboot oem get_indentifier_token” and press enter again.
Step 13: You will see a long text of token identifier. Now you have to head back to the HTC website to the bootloader unlock instruction page. Follow the instruction there. It might ask you to paste certain instructions in the command prompt. Do that too.
Step 14: Once you have done that, copy the long token identifier, paste it at the bottom of HTCDev page and click Submit.
Step 15: An “Unlock_code_bin” file will be sent to you via an email. Download that file in the same directory as of your fastboot.
Step 16: Type “fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin” in command prompt and hit enter.
Step 17: Follow the on-screen instructions on your phone. Once you have followed all, your phone will reboot and you are done.
