In our previous tutorials we showed you how to install Android 7.1.2 NJH47B Nougat Official Factory Image on Google Pixel Plus. And now its time to root your updated Google Pixel device. You can not root your Android device until you update it with the latest factory image. So in this tutorial we are going to give you a quick and easy guide on how to root your Google Pixel device with Android 7.1.2 NJH47B Nougat Official Firmware.

Rooting your device lets you explore through the hundred of thousands online apps and mods. You will never be tired from looking into too unlimited apps on Google Play Store and thousands of mods over the web. All you have to do is follow this easy guide step by step and root your already updated Google Pixel device with the latest official Nougat firmware.

Similar like in the updates in previous tutorials, you will have to go through the following prerequisites before rooting your device so here we go.

USB Drivers:
It is very important that you have downloaded and installed the latest USB Drivers for Google Pixel.

Backup your phone:
There is always a slight chance that things might go wrong, therefore, it imperative that you make a backup of your data. So, that if at all something goes wrong, you can store your phone.

ADB & Fastboot:

You need to have ADB & Fastboot downloaded and configured on your mobile.

USB Debugging:

Make sure you have USB debugging mode turned on your mobile.

Unlock Bootloader:
Another critical thing to do, before you start the actual process is that you need to ensure that the bootloader is unlocked. All your data will be deleted during the rooting process.

Note: This tutorial is only for the Android 7.1.2 NJH47B Nougat nstalled on Google Nexus . This might not work on other mobile phone or variants of Google devices.

Root Google Pixel with Android 7.1.2 NJH47B Nougat official firmware:

Step 1- Start with downloading the android SDK and setting it up with the USB drivers and platform-tools package.

Step 2- The next step is to enable the USB Debugging mode on your phone.

Step 3- Depending on the OS you are using, if you still haven’t, you should download the fastboot and extract it in the android-sdk-window/platform-tools directory. If there is so such directory there, you should make one.

Step 4- SuperSu v2.82 is important and if you haven’t downloaded it yet, you need to do it now on your computer.

Step 5- Use a USB cable to connect and mount your phone memory on your PC.

Step 6- Copy the file into the SD card. It should be directly placed on the SD and not a folder.

Step 7- Switch your phone off and download the file and save in your device’s root directory and turn your phone back on. 

Step 8- Now download this file  Download TWRP (twrp-3.0.2-0-RC1-fastboot-sailfish.img) and save in the same place you saved the ADB & Fastboot package in step 1. 

Step 9-  Turn your phone back on in the fastboot mode. To do this, you need to press and hold the power key, volume up & down button.

Step 10- Once in fastboot mode, you need to go to the directory again where you saved files in step 1 and step 9. Open command prompt by pressing Shift + Right-click > Open Command Prompt at the same time on Windows system. For Linux and Mac use the device to go to this directory.

Step 11- Type in  fastboot boot twrp-3-0-3-0-fastboot-sailfish.img

Step 12- Your phone will boot in TWRP recovery mode. You need to flash the zip file in this mode by tapping the “install” button.

Step 13- Next step is to select downloaded superSU file titled by using your volume up down keys and pressing the home button to select it to confirm and start the installation process. 

Step 15- Once the installation is done, root your phone via the reboot system now option. But first you need to go to “+++++Go Back, only then will you be able to see the above option. If you are rooting your phone for the first time, it is going to take about 5 minutes. So, you need to be patient.
