Not having the latest mobile phone is not a matter of worry when it comes to operating system and upgrading it to latest Android. We are talking about Samsung Galaxy J7 (SM-J700P) which had been launched by the company back in 2016 and still many a users have this magnificent beast in their possession.
If you are one of those lucky people who stay away from showing off and want to use a phone because it’s useful and handy, then you are in for a treat. You can easily download and install Lineage OS 14.1 ROM which is based on Nougat 7.1.1. This very ROM has great features and is compatible with all the Google services but still it has not been announced by the Samsung company itself. The custom ROM has been designed and developed by third party developers, yet, it is working beautifully.
You can update your Samsung Galaxy J7 to Lineage OS 14.1 Android 7.1.1 Nougat custom ROM by following this tutorial mindfully. You are highly recommended and advised to make back up pf all your data because in case of a catastrophic situation where things might not go as planned, you would, at least, be able to recover your precious data. Secondly, this update is meant for the Galaxy J7 variant SM-J700P only.
(i) Your device’s bootloader must be unlocked before hand.
(ii) Your device must be charged at least 75% to 80%.
(iii) USB drivers for Samsung Galaxy J7 should be installed on the computer.
(iv) USB debugging mode must be enabled on your device.
(v) The latest TWRP recovery must be installed in your device and it should be rooted before hand.
How to install Lineage OS 14.1 Android 7.1.1 Nougat custom ROM on Samsung Galaxy J7:
1 Download the above mentioned files on your computer and then using a USB cable, connect your Galaxy J7 with the computer.
2 The zip files of both the downloaded files should be moved into the root folder of your device’s SD card and then disconnect the device from the computer and turn the device off to boot it into recovery mode.
3 Press and hold the Power button and Volume up and Home keys simultaneously until the device is in the recovery mode.
4 Go to the recovery menu performing a full and complete data clear, wiping each and everything.
5 After doing so, go back to the recovery main menu choosing Install zip from sd card >> choose zip from sd card.

6 Now locate the custom ROM file that has been stored in your device’s SD card’s root folder earlier and select the .zip file for commencing the installation.
7 After the completion of installation process, repeat the same steps for installing Google Apps on your device.
8 Lastly, tap on ‘Reboot system now’ for your device to restart with Lineage OS 14.1 Android 7.1.2 Nougat custom ROM and Gapps.
