What is bootloader?
Bootloader is a code that runs before the OS of the phone will run. The bootloader is what instructs the operating system kernel to boot normally. What you need to understand here is that Android OS is an open source OS. It is available on different hardware. Every version has their own version of bootloader.
Why You need to Unlock OnePlus X Bootloader:
If you unlock bootloader, you will be able to install custom firmware on your Android phone. You will be able to do a lot more with your phone.
- First and foremost, you need to create a backup of your phone. There is a possibility that you might end up wipe clean your phone during the installation process. Or you something goes wrong and you lose all your data.

You need to install the ADB and Fastboot drivers on your computer. Without these, you will not be able to proceed. This is required to send commands via your Pc to your One Plus X. Just download them to proceed.
The Complete Guide to Unlock OnePlus X Bootloader:
Step 1: You need to enable the USB debugging on your phone. To do so, go to Setting, then to About Phone. Tap on it for about 7 times, after that you will receive “You’re now a developer”
Step 2: Now go to back to Developer Options, look for the USB debugging option. Once you find the option, you need to enable it. Tap on OK button, and accept warning to proceed.
Step 3: There you will also have to look for the OEM Unlocking option. Find that and enable that option.
Step 4: Connect your phone to the computer, if it is the first time you will get a pop-up message “Always Allow From This Computer.” Check the box and then press OK button.
Step 5: Now reboot your phone into bootloader/fastboot mode. To do so, switch off your phone and turn it on by pressing and holding the Volume up button along with the volume down button.
Step 6: Go to C:/adb on your computer and open Command prompt. To open command prompt, you need to press and hold the shift key and then click right anywhere on the window.
Step 7: Once you see the command window, type the command “fastboot devices”
Step 8: To unlock the bootloader, now you need to type in the command “fastboot oem unlock” It might take a couple of seconds and the bootloader will automatically be unlocked.
Step 9: To confirm that the unlocking of bootloader was successful, you need to type the command “fastboot oem device-info” This is done now, you can successfully enjoy unlocked bootloader on your phone.
