AT&T is one of the leading mobile phone carriers in America is if you have bought your iPhone in contract with AT&T then it, surely, is locked. It means that you can not just pop in another carrier’s SIM in your phone’s SIM slot and expect it to start functioning. This will not happen as AT&T sells only locked phones and it is a proper procedure, after which, you can have your device unlocked and usable for another carrier’s or overseas SIM.
There are a few pre-requisites that you need to meet before you get all horsey and run towards your carrier’s customer services office. All your bills and financial obligations must be met accordingly and the device be locked to AT&T only. The device shouldn’t be involved in any type of fraudulent activity neither should be reported lost nor stolen at any stage. If you are confident that you meet the laid out criteria here, you are good to go.
