The iOS 10 -iOS 10.3.1 version has lots of new exciting features which include an update to message app, new home app, all new Photos and Music, News apps, Siri integration with some types of third-party apps, VoIP calls integration in the Phone app, and lots more. But there are also some issues reported related to this version and one of the main issue is related to battery life. Many users who have updated their iPhones or iPads with iOS 10, iOS 10.3.1 are facing battery life problems.

Fixed of Battery life Problems in iOS 10 – iOS 10.3.1:
1- Watching Usage of Battery:
The very first thing which you need to know is battery usage of your device. You can check your battery usage with different iOS apps for battery. By using these types of apps you can find out the amount of time used by an app, and the amount of time it was running in the background.

To find this feature go to your device’s settings and tap on battery and you will see all apps with the percentage of their usage right in front of them. It only shows you the last 24 hours battery usage in your batter option but Last 4 Days tab option is also available and you can check the apps that are consuming battery in the last 4 days.
If you are using an app like Facebook then it can use high percentage of battery which does not necessarily mean it is a battery hog. With iOS you can also check activity that could have resulted in battery consumption such as ‘Background Activity’ in case of the Facebook or mail app.
What to do:
Once you identify the percentage of apps consuming most of your battery, delete it. If you can live without it. Otherwise always make sure to close the app and other opened apps by pressing home button twice and flipping them off to completely close them from your phone. As every app you open is still running in the back of your device. Apps like VoIP, any audio streaming app or navigation apps tend to suck your iPhone/iPad battery the most.
Always have your locations disabled before using any apps. You can do that by going into Settings > Privacy > Location Services >> Disable and also disabling Refresh Background Apps would help you save your batter too. And you can do that by going into your device’s Settings > General > Background App Refresh > Disable. Which is the second solution we have for you to save your iPhone/iPad battery.
2. Disabling Background App Refresh:
Background App Fresh is a really convenient feature by Apple but it causes to drain so much of phone’s battery. Apple knows about it and are doing their best to keep the battery usage to minimum in this feature. This feature lets the app keep refreshing and updating itself which causes battery drainage by unnecessarily running the app at the background without anyone using it.
The good thing is you can disable Background app refresh to save your battery.
GO to Background App Refresh go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh > and turn it Off.

If you use Facebook a lot, it is suggested to keep the Background App Refresh disabled for it as it causes the most battery drainage.
3- Disabling Location Services:
Whenever you install an app on your device, it asks you to give them access to various things such as location etc. All those apps which use location service can have a major impact on battery life. So you may want to cut down on clicking Yes every time an app ask you permission to search your location.
* You can disable location service for all apps.
* Go to the Settings app and navigate to Privacy > Location Services and turn it off.
* Use Location Only While Using the app.
iOS gives the control to you that you can allow apps to use Location Services only while using the app, so the apps don’t use it all the time. You can also check which applications have recently used location services by going to Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
You should change the setting to While Using the App for the Facebook app to prevent it from draining battery life.
4- Checking Push Email:
Push Email works for instant notification for new email and look for new data every 15 minutes, every 30 minutes, hourly or when you launch the Mail app (manually).
Push email app uses lots of battery and it can be the main cause of battery drain on some devices. You can check the battery usage of your Push email. It seem to cause a lot of battery drainage.
Go to app Setting , and navigate to Mails, Contacts, and Calendars > Fetch New Data and check if the email account has been set as Push, Fetch or Manual.
5. Check Cell Signal:
LTE can be a cause for the draining battery if your carrier does not offer LTE coverage. In this situation, You should use 3G to prevent the LTE radio from draining battery life.
To switch to 3G, navigate to Settings -> General -> Cellular/Mobile -> Enable LTE/Enable 4G and tap on the Off option.
6. Using Lower Power Mode:
Low power mode helps to run your device when your battery gets low. This mode can extend your device’s battery life for up to 3 hours by turning off background app refresh, automatic downloads, and visual effects.
You can enable it by going to Settings > Battery and tapping on the toggle.
7- iPhone Facedown Placement:
Although this new feature is only available for iPhone 5s and later mobiles, it can also save good bit of your iPhone’s battery life. Apple uses Ambient light sensors in its iPhone’s screens and they brought it into another use of saving the battery whenever you receive a notification.

Your iPhone won’t light up every time you receive a notification. With the number of social and news apps we have on our iPhone now a days, notifications have become a regular thing on your mobile and it causes so much of your battery and you don’t even seem to notice it.
By placing your iPhone Facedown, you can get rid of all those notifications and save good bit of your device’s battery.
If your device ‘s battery is draining faster then you can troubleshoot for this problem by using following methods
* Restarting or resetting your iPhone.
* Resetting network settings.
* Maintenance of your battery.
Make sure you do the power cycle of your mobile once a month by charging your iPhone all the way to 100 percent and then use it all till your iPhone runs out of batter.
9- General Tips:
These are some general tips which could also help protect your iPhone batter and increase it’s battery life.
1- You can save you device’s battery life by deleted widgets you don’t use.
2- Not putting dynamic and heavy wallpapers could help as well. Think twice before you select those moving wallpapers as your background.
3- Disabling parallax and motion effects can also improve your mobile’s battery life.
4- Disabling automatic updates in your app store can be good for your mobile’s battery.
5- Spotlight search should be disabled.
6- Indices which are not needed should be disabled.
7- Push notifications should be off.
10- Restoring You iPhone:
You can use this option after trying all above methods. This option can be used in that case when you have restored an old backup on your iPhone and the battery life problems could be due to some issue with the backup.
