Google smartphone is going to be appealing to all users and not just to Android fans or developers. It is a mobile phone that has something to offer to everyone. Both Google Pixel XL and Google Pixel offer outstanding camera, fantastic software experience, stellar performance and efficient Pixel-exclusive Google Assistant.

The virtual assistant is currently exclusive for Pixel, but this can change in the future. Although Pixel was a great phone even last year, there sure was some room for improvement. Google made a notice of all those things that were missing and they have added them to the new phones.

Google is back with the two most anticipated phones of the year, Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL. In this article, we are going to tell you all there is to know about the company’s new flagship smartphones.

Google Pixel 2 Design:

If you have seen the picture of any of the phone, you will notice that they do not look much different from their predecessors. The back is almost the same. Both devices have an aluminum chassis, along with a complete glass panel towards the top of the device. However, there is a slight difference in the way the glass covers. This time the glass is slightly shorter and it does not cover the fingerprint sensor. The back-camera sensor is bigger as compared to last year.

These are the only difference between the new Pixel and the last year ones. The volume and power button of the phone is located at the right side of the phone and the logo G is present at the bottom of the back. Google claims that the rear-facing fingerprint scanner of Google Pixel and Pixel XL is way faster in comparison to other smartphones.

The difference between Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel XL

There is very little difference between the two flagship devices. Below are the differences between these two devices.

  1. The first difference is found on the front. The Pixel 2 has a smaller 5.0-inch OLED display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It has an aspect ratio of 16:9. Google Pixel XL, on the other hand, has a screen that follows the trend of the modern world. The 6.0-inch display has an aspect ratio of 18:9 and screen resolution of 2,880 x 1,440.
  2. Google Pixel XL has slim bezels around its screen, whereas Google Pixel 2 has a noticeable bezel around the bottom as well as the top of the screen.
  3. Of course, the prices are going to be different. Since Google Pixel XL is a bigger phone, it is going to expensive as compared to Google Pixel 2.

Same under the hood

Although there might have a slightly different design, the software and the hardware is almost the same. Both devices come with octa-core 2.35 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. They have 4GB RAM and an Adreno 430 GPU. You will not be having the option of external storage and both devices come with either 64GB external memory of 128 GB. So, you can pick a device that suits your memory needs. If you want more memory opt for 128 GB else you can buy 64 GB. Remember, if you increase the GBs the is going to be an increase in the price as well.

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL are going to have smarter Always-On Display. Why smarter? The display will always be listening to the audio playing around you. So, if you want information about a song played around you, you won’t have to manually unlock your phone. Simply tap on the song title from the Always-On Display and all the related information will be displayed by Google Assistant.

Better Google Pixel Launcher

Pixel 2 and Pixel XL come with a brand-new Pixel launcher’s home screen. Google is working towards the idea of removing the weather widgets that tend to take a lot of top section and bring back the search bar and place it under the Docked icons. This is a more suitable place for it. It might take you some time to get a hang of it, but from the usability point, it is a good move especially when using Pixel XL.

The best Smartphone Camera’s

Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL has famous for their fantastic cameras. Google Pixel trumps both iPhone 8 and Samsung Note 8 when it comes to the camera. It’s ½.6-inch 12.2. MP sensor and a f/1.8 aperture is the best camera so far. We believe that Pixel 2 camera is going to be pretty hard to beat.

Water Resistant

The trend has been there for quite some time and Google has finally made the decision to adopt it. Both Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL come with a dust resistance and water resistance rating of IP67. This means that you phone can survive up to 1 meter of water for about 30 minutes at one time.

No Headphone Jack

It was a rumor and no one really believed, but it seems that it is true. Google Pixel and Pixel XL do not have headphone jacks. So, it means that you would have to use the USB Type-C port for wired headphones. Another bad thing is that you won’t be able to charge your phone while listening to music. This isn’t something we were looking forward to in Google’s new flagship devices.

Squeezable Sides

It is no secret that HTC and Google have been working very closely for the past few years. Recently, Google also bought a big chuck of HTC’s workforce for about $1.1 billion. So, Google smartphones are making their way to HTC’s line and vice versa. The new Pixel line is coming up with something like HTC’s Edge Sense. It means the phones are going to have an Active Edge. Squeezing the sides of the phone will quickly launch the Google Assistant.

Black, Blue and White

This time around Google is coming up with more colors. They have become more creative with the colors. You would have the option of buying Pixel 2 in Blue, clearly White and Black. Likewise, Google Pixel XL will be available in Black, and Black and White. In Black and White, the phone is going to have a black back and a white front featuring an orange power button. We hope the Pixel XL is also made available in the Blue color. It is a pretty cool color.

You can pre-order the both phones from October 4th. The price of Google Pixel 2 is going to be $649 for 64 GB and for 128 GB it will be $749. Pixel XL will be $849 for 64 GB and $949 for 128GB.  For bonus, both phones will come with Google Home Mini for limited time.
