Every smartphone has a different way to get into the recovery mode. Google Pixel is already an excellent and powerful device, just image how can you do when you can enter its recovery mode. To enter the Recovery Google Pixel 2 XL Recovery mode you will have to follow a certain set of instructions.

Google Pixel 2 is a smartphone that comes with a default recovery partition. This part of the phone is for maintenance reasons. If you are looking for features like flash update files, factory reset and much more, you will have to go to Stock Recovery. The best thing is that we are not going to teach you one method, on the contrary, we will throw in multiples ways. You can select the one that suits you the best. Without any further delay, we should get right to these efficient and effective ways of entering Google Pixel 2 XL Recovery mode.

How to Enter Recovery Google Pixel 2 XL Recovery mode:

There are three methods through which you can enter the Recovery Mode on Google Pixel 2 XL.

  1. Hardware Buttons.
  2. ADB on Windows
  3. ADB on Mac OS X

Let’s have a look at each of these methods individual and in details. You can choose the one that suits you the best.

Method 1: Enter Google Pixel 2 XL Recovery mode via Hardware Buttons.

In the first method, you will use the hardware buttons of the phone to enter the Google Pixel 2 XL Recovery mode.

  1. The first step is to switch off your phone.
  2. Now press and hold the Power button along with the Volume Down button for a few seconds
  3. After pressing the buttons for few seconds let them go. You will then see a Fastboot menu pop-up. From this menu, you first have to look for the Recovery option and then select it. You will have to scroll down a bit. To navigate you will be using the Volume buttons and to make a selection, you will use the Home Button.

Method 2- Enter Google Pixel 2 XL Recovery mode via ADB on Windows

The second method involves you connecting your device to the computer. Below are the steps.

  1. It is imperative that you have ADB Drivers as well as USB Drivers for Google Pixel 2 XL on your computer. Also, make sure that ADB is configured on your computer.

  1. Now take your phone and connect it to the computer via a USB cable. We suggest that you use an original USB cable.
  2. Head to android-sdk-window\platform-tools directory and from there open Command prompt. To open a command prompt, right-click anywhere in the folder while you are pressing the Shift key. From the menu choose the Open Command Prompt option.
  3. Now type the command “adb reboot recovery” in command prompt and hit enter.
  4. This command will turn off your phone and it will then boot in the recovery mode. You will see the Android logo, if this is done, you are now in the Recovery mode.

Methods 3- Enter Google Pixel 2 XL Recovery mode via ADB on Mac OS X

  1. It is imperative that you have ADB Drivers as well as USB Drivers for Google Pixel 2 XL on your computer. Also, make sure that ADB is configured on your computer.
  2. Now take your phone and connect it to your Mac via a USB cable.
  3. Launch the terminal app on your computer and type the command: /<PATH>/android-sdk-macosx/platform-tools/adb reboot recovery

Note: Path in the above command is the location of the Android ADK. Remember, if android-sdk-macosx is in the main user directory, you can skip the /<Path>/ thing.

  1. Your phone will turn off and it will then enter the Recovery Mode. You will be able to see the Android in distress logo, it that is the case it means that you have successfully entered the recovery mode.

Once in the recovery mode, you can as you like. You can install custom ROM, you can play around with the inbuilt features of Google Pixel. Basically, you can make factory level changes to your mobile phone. This is the reason that is it very important for developers to get into the recovery mode, because only then are they able to make the difference. They are able to make changes to further enhance and boost the overall performance of the phone.
